Sneak Peak # 2

Well recently ive gotten about 10 emails from people asking when my Spring collection will be up online. So to answer your question it will be the last week of this month, or last day perhaps. Depending on how much work my husband has to do it will be between March 31st & April 2nd. If your not on the mailing list then go get your lil booty on there :) These will be my most beautifully handcrafted items yet! Im striving for perfection here on the homestead and focusing less on quantity and more on quality. Thankyou to everyone who takes interest in Roxy Marj and continues to keep collecting my items :) Hopefully it will pay off in the long run and in 20 years you can say you own some vintage Roxy Marj and you can get big bucks for it if you wish to sell it :) So here are some more pictures of the accessories that have been made & there will be more than one of the necklace and earring sets and the other necklace (working hard to try and please my customers! ) and then below them are swatches of fabric that I have been using for the clothing and bags. Hope you like!

Dilly Dally

This weekend I felt like I did alot & got alot done *pat on the back Mrs. Asami* :) Saturday morning Hiro and I took the Port Authority shuttle bus to Mitsuwa market in New Jersey. Along the way I ooed and awed at the cute houses ( reminds me so much of Spokane, Wa) Got to see the pretty view of the NYC skyline. Got some super cute cookie chocolate mushrooms ~ I thought they would make the cutest cupcake/cake toppers but unfortunately I didn't have patience to wait to make any cupcakes so Hiro and I devoured them *super delicious* and then I ade a tote bag (baroque pleather applique ontop) for my church's yearly youth auction. I was pleased with the style so much that I think I will make some more for perhaps my summer collection but in muted colors (?) then after church today some friends and I walked through Chelsea market and I saw this super cute Leprechaun watermelon (so creative!) Got home - hiro made me a yummy sandwich and I shared it with Sebastian - Please don't be grossed out by the fact of him sitting on our counter bar - we clean it thouroughly daily!

Craft Obsession!

For a while now ive been itching to learn the craft of precious metal....... but kinda putting it aside because of the intimidation factor, but after reading some "how to" books yesterday at Barnes & Noble I am determined to learn this skill. After reaserching last night about the cost of materials and what not that also lowered the intimidation level. I assumed for some reason that It was a pretty pricey craft. Ofcourse buying the materials is alot im sure but now that I found out I don't need a kiln to fire the jewelry ( a gas stove or compact handheld butane torch works just as well ) Im well on my way to making precious metal jewelry! :) Here are the names of the websites where I got my pictures from : artisiancenterofvirginia.org pmcguild.com craftster.com & precieux.com

CHILD'S WORLD

As a child growing up, me and my brothers and sisters favorite book/s were THE CHILD'S WORLD series ( book #1 we called the bow wow book ) Ive been scouring ebay for them about awhile now, but since I didn't know the exact name of them I had no luck. So I asked my mom a couple weeks ago for the author and she said that she actually had an extra set & that she could send me the one we had growing up. So yesterday it arrived and I was instantly transplanted back into our living room seeing my mom read us one of our favorite poems "Indian children" and seeing me and my brothers and sister run around in circles whooping and hollering like Indians <- correct term "native americans"..... My mom always put a tune to the poems in such a slick and funny way that it would always make us wanna get up and dance :) lol Much of my inspiration as a child growing up came from these books, that I can't imagine not having them now as an adult. If your into vintage childrens books (these date from 1950 ) I HIGHLY recommend this series - They are hard to find though :/ here is book # 6 for sale through this link http://www.biblio.com/books/4122383.html

Okay well I just figured out how to switch the stupid "only blogger members can post a blog" button :/ So YEAH * now anybody can post a comment and you don't have to sign up. Fantastic! & I apologize to those who have left comments that I wanted to reply to but didn't know exactly how to go about that...... :/ urrmmm yes I admit im a little slow with this stuff when my husband isn't here to help me.

spring me some sandals

Okay so ive gotta give props to 9 West shoe store + the other day as I was passing their window on the upper west side I saw some of their sandals and drooled.... Im a sucker for pretty much any flat leather sandals (saltwaters are one of my favorites) but since I didn't have time to pop into their store I decided to look them up online and low and behold 9 West had many more cute sandals * yeah * Here are my favorites p.s. They are all under $70
