I thought it would be interesting to show everyone my process of doing finishes for my Fashion Illustration class. Especially since it takes me about 3-4 hours just to do two, depending on the garments ofcourse. This weeks homework is to do evening wear, which ive happened to enjoy a lot, maybe too much, because this homework turned out to be a little too snake legs with the purple border and all... :[) Okay first step, pick images to draw, then draw a balance line right through them. I usually go to style.com to find my images and then on photoshop blow them up and print them out. Because the paper we have to paint our finishes on is 11x15 [Parsons Paper - which you can get at design partners on 29th and 7th] I tape two pieces of computer paper together to equal the size of Parsons paper to draw my rough sketches on, just to get the basic shape. Then I put tracing paper over that and trace the figure and add the clothes. Then, I take it to my AWESOME light box that my good friend Ken made for me and has LITERALLY saved me hours of work time *thanks Ken* :) If you can get a light box - GET ONE!!!!! So I then put my Parsons paper over the tracing paper and trace the figures, and THEN [a lot of thens] :/ set up my painting work station and paint them in. Voila! Two fashion finishes....Now just imagine 14-20 of those for my concepts class! That is how many are due next week, and that is just one class!!!!! Yes, I am pulling my hair out as I speak! :) ahaha lol However, I have to constantly remind myself, that my homework is to paint fashion figures!!! :[) *sweet*!!
