I will be getting my desk here shortly, so while I am waiting I have been browsing sites with great office/desk supplies. The more organized and cleaner the supplies look, the more eager I am to get to work and create! These pieces from aging.co.jp are my most favorite items I have come across in years!!!! Brings the ball point pen to a whole new level. :)

Many years ago I picked up C.S. Lewis's book "Screwtape Letters" - I only got through half of it because I didn't have the money to buy it at the time, so I just sat at the Barnes & Noble and read as much as I could till I had to leave. As amazing as the book is, it took me 3+ years to finally buy it, but then I loaned it to my friend to read [which he loved too] I now have it back and can't put it down, however it is taking me longer to read because I keep going back and re-reading each page to carefully make sure I didn't miss anything. This book [if you decide to read it] will make you really pay attention to your actions and thoughts towards other people. Whether you are religious or not it definitely gets you wondering about what else is out there, and if we are really in a battle with ourselves and the adversary [?] Gives you something to think about. Also, what I find very interesting is how C.S. Lewis was not a religious man, yet all his writings [fully admitted] have religious undertones and follow a lot of what is taught through out the bible. Here is a synopsis from amazon.com by Patricia Klein Editorial Reviews Amazon.com Who among us has never wondered if there might not really be a tempter sitting on our shoulders or dogging our steps? C.S. Lewis dispels all doubts. In The Screwtape Letters, one of his bestselling works, we are made privy to the instructional correspondence between a senior demon, Screwtape, and his wannabe diabolical nephew Wormwood. As mentor, Screwtape coaches Wormwood in the finer points, tempting his "patient" away from God. Each letter is a masterpiece of reverse theology, giving the reader an inside look at the thinking and means of temptation. Tempters, according to Lewis, have two motives: the first is fear of punishment, the second a hunger to consume or dominate other beings. On the other hand, the goal of the Creator is to woo us unto himself or to transform us through his love from "tools into servants and servants into sons." It is the dichotomy between being consumed and subsumed completely into another's identity or being liberated to be utterly ourselves that Lewis explores with his razor-sharp insight and wit. The most brilliant feature of The Screwtape Letters may be likening hell to a bureaucracy in which "everyone is perpetually concerned about his own dignity and advancement, where everyone has a grievance, and where everyone lives the deadly serious passions of envy, self-importance, and resentment." We all understand bureaucracies, be it the Department of Motor Vehicles, the IRS, or one of our own making. So we each understand the temptations that slowly lure us into hell. If you've never read Lewis, The Screwtape Letters is a great place to start. And if you know Lewis, but haven't read this, you've missed one of his core writings. --Patricia Klein --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

My friends have been telling me now for some time to get the book "9 Heads." Well while at the Union Square Barnes&Noble last night I came upon that book and thumbed through it. Excellent! Such a plethora of how to for flats, finishes, figures, garment detail etc. But since I am on a tight budget right now, I was not able to buy it, instead I copied some of the garment detail pictures they had in there. Also, there is a book titled "100 Years of Fashion Illustration" that is also very nice.

So last night as I am working on my concepts homework for the Gap Competition that is being held at our school, I put a staple IN my finger!!!! I can't even tell you how painful it was to take it out. The whole experience was creepy and definitely blog worthy, ahahaha lol I guess that makes me a little creepy [?] anyways, it was horrible and I was crying profusely but after 10/15 mins of stinging pain, I pulled it out... :( But that was not helpful in me trying to finish up my homework, so over much deliberation, I have decided to skip class in order to finish it all and present it the way I have envisioned, I also have the Banana Republic accessories to start today as well.... ahhhhhhh shooting myself in the foot right now!

Mentally I am not doing so well, I have been having a hard time going to bed over a lot of different things but lately, most of it has to do with major guilt that I am feeling over having to give up my two dogs Stella and Sebastian. Both doggies were my life and number one priority and my constant companions. Sebastian however, was even more so... don't get me wrong about Stella, I love her just as much as Sebastian, but there was always something about him that was different from so many other dogs that I have known... I feel like Sebastian was my guardian angel and that he was with me to keep me safe from myself if that makes any sense [?] There were sooo many times that I feel like I couldn't go on anymore with anything and I would be in such a low point in my life on a constant basis and the only one I ever talked to about any of my feelings that I was having inside of me was Sebastian, and whenever I would sit and really talk to him, I could feel like he was really listening to me and wanted so hard to tell me that everything would be okay. Well it's been almost a year since I have given them up and over a month since I last saw the two [the just moved with their owner to Delaware and before moving I was able to go visit them whenever I wanted] But right now I am sooo down and I know that I will get out of my funk, I always do, but I just miss Sebastian sooo much. I feel like the biggest failure of a doggie owner and that I didn't try my hardest to keep them and I feel like they know that... I just want to be with Sebastian and Stella right now and fall into a deep long nap with them and feel the sweetest comfort that would give off that dogs are so well at doing. :( Posted are some of my favorite photos of Sebastian, and tomorrow I will some of Stella....

I have a new love in my life! The Falabellas! :) This weekend I was in Connecticut with my girlfriends from school staying at our classmates house. The room I was sleeping in had a bookshelf chock full of books on horses!!! So due to the fact that I have a horrible habit of waking up very early in the morning - [EVEN IF I have only gotten 3 or so hours of sleep] I was in need of finding something to pass the time till everyone else woke up. So a book on horses it was! :) hehehe lol Well all I have to say is that as soon as I came upon the page on Falabellas, I was instantly in love! I have now decided to make it one of my life goals to have a Falabella farm alongside my yorkie farm that I want to have someday! I am not even joking. By the way, they are smaller than the shetland pony - hopefully it is obvious through the photos.

A couple things: 1. I looove self portraits of people! When I have loads of money I am going to commission different artists to paint my portrait along with my doggies, children, husband, house etc. I wish it was still a common practice like a couple hundred years ago. :) 2. I looove Jenny Belin's work! Found out about her through Domino magazine [another thing I love] Her work is so inspiring and makes me want paint portraits of my own.....however, I have yet to start that. :/ 3. A new song I have fallen in love with - The Thrills "Nothing changes around here" :) <3 love it!

Just got back from having a yummy breakfast at Brown Cafe [www.greenbrownorange.com] on the Lower East Side/Chinatown in Manhattan. The atmosphere was super cozy and reminded me of cute cafes and shops that I had gone to in Japan, plus the food is great. The walls are lined in a hearty wood paneling with butcher block tables and logs that are cut rectangular as the benches... a tiny place with 3 cozy nooks to choose from - I love any place that has a cozy nook. Some of my print designs for my digital design class. Developing prints for our Spring/Summer 2008 collection. By the way, we are learning U4ia, it is hell, and that is all I have to say. :( Basically imagine trying to do digital/textile work for 2007/08 under 1994 program conditions.
