I just figured out how to upload videos onto Youtube!! ahahahah lol a new obsession awaits! :^[) So my first video ever that I uploaded is from the concert I went to this past Saturday night with my friend, she and I saw Cornelius, who is one of my favorite musicians! I came across him when I flew out to NYC almost 8 years ago for a nanny interview, I was hanging out in the Tower Records all day long listening to music because I was too nervous to walk around the city by myself. :/ So I found his cd "Fantasma" and it was love at first sight! ahaha lol But I finally saw him in concert on Saturday, and it was AWESOME!!! The video is of how the show started. *enjoy* :)

Back in school! Woo Hoo! I am in my second semester of my Junior year and this <> much closer to being a Senior and graduating! But, I gots to remember to stay present and enjoy today! I have major issues with mentally being in the future and not in today. :( But that is a whole other entry. :^) So *new* semester which means *new* croqui book! Yay! My favorite!
Right now we are working on 2 projects that will be overlapping each other. 1. is the CFDA competition [Council of Fashion Designers of America] The competition is held throughout the country with 13 other schools, and it is 10 $3,000 scholarships...So it is a pretty big deal - from what I heard, Parsons usually takes about 1/2 of the scholarships... so that says something about my school. :) [GO TO PARSONS PEOPLE!] umm...and 2. our Junior Fashion show which is the beginning of May > MAY 9TH!!! Put that in your calendars peeps. Freshman year when I was in the Fusion Fashion show I ended up on a lot of peoples "Don't like" lists because I forgot to tell people, not just people/people but really close friends :( *sorry* but this is my early announcement now, and there will be a couple others to follow. Anyone is able to attend this one I believe - I think it is free and ticket free [I will find out more about that] But, for all those who can come - COME! It is great fun! :) Every section is given a critic, and the critic gives the theme that the section has to design from. So my section [childrens wear - there is only 1 section for childrens wear by the way, and about 10 sections for womens wear and 2 for mens wear] Our theme is Tokyo Stree Fashion from 1995! :( I am actually kinda bummed about it, also the more I have been thinking about it the more I am realizing how hard this is. #1 because they have sooo many layers of everything #2 many times when I have looked through Fruits I see things on the models and think that is cute, and this is cute, but overall together - it is just really tacky...but most def. fun to look at - so my challenge is really about designing an outfit for a 10 year old girl who looks stylish rather than tacky...but we have to incorporate all the elements of Fruits basically, and come up with our own "character" to make prints from etc.... and actually another good thing about our theme is, is because we are such a small section [only 10 of us] it will go by fast on the runway, but because our outfits will be so crazy, they will be memorable I think! :) So that is about the show > back to C.F.D.A - we have to design 2 collections and pick our favorite and then go with that and croqui more etc. The collection I posted is not the one I am going with, when I am all done I will post the collection I went with, but for now wanted to show what I was working on - this was winter break homework.

As usual, I took many many breaks over the weekend when working on my homework that is due this week ~ and during one of my breaks I made these two little wire things. I actually don't know what to call them yet...partially inspired by my Sarah Sze book that I got that I posted earlier today about and by one of my paintings I did last year. The little houses are just made from colored masking tape. :) and the white is sticker paper.>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>>
Sarah Sze is an amazing artist that I have recently come across - her attention to detail is so inspiring!

Came upon this shop Ein Shop through one of my Japanese Children's magazines. They have an overabundance of cuteness. I found these jewelery pieces to be so sweet.
And these little paper/card holders adorable as well - I think they would be great inspiration for a weekend craft project for yourself or with kids. Using rocks, sticks and even tiny glass jars would most def. make an adorable something! :) Also, this little balloon boat caught my eye, I wish I would have had this when I was younger ~ another "craft" that would be easy and fun to do.

DIY: Whether you're are decorating for a birthday party, this upcoming Valentines Day or just because...here is a little something that is sooo quick and totally inexpensive. Pink office dot stickers... of course try with other colors, mix colors and even cut shapes or letters to put all over. They stick really well and you hardly need to press onto the lights for them to stay. Also, there is something really pleasing about them being flat, has a nice scaly quality to it! :)
Was walking by Forbidden Planet [graphic novel, comic book store] this past weekend, and in the display window I saw a huge poster of Moomin Valley, this was a design I had never seen before so I went in and asked if they had any Moomin Valley books and they did. They have chapter books which I already have and then they had two big hard back comic books of Moomin Valley! What a treat. I highly highly recommend buying these books especially since they are only $20! Each!, exquisitely bound, and highly entertaining. :)
Then after my internship yesterday I passed the Scholastic store in Soho and saw this book "You Were Loved Before You Were Born" in their window. Just by the cover design I had to run in real quick and look inside. The pictures are just as beautiful. Here is a sneak peak. :) You can purchase it here at Amazon

Today I went for an interview for an internship at UNEARTHEN which I luckily got [the jewelry that Gia the designer and owner makes is beautiful!] and will be going there every Tuesday now. Afterwards I went to Dean & Deluca to get something to eat and after paying for my things, I turned around and who was standing right there but Amedeo from BLONDE REDHEAD!!! I stared at him for at least 5 seconds [5 seconds is long for staring at someone] Anyways, I can't stop thinking about todays incident...sooo crazy. Oh! and then on top of that literally right after as I am waiting for the subway at Prince st. Candice Bushnell runs in and down the stairs to catch the uptown train. I am never star struck except for musicians and artists but it was weird seeing two of them in one day. :)
Big fan of Tim Hamilton! I would wear all these clothes for myself - wish he would start a womens line. :(
Came upon this Scandinavian shop :) Itti Kid through Design Sponge Truly adorable clothing! I wish I could get some onesies in my size [adult long johns] from there! It is shops like these that get me sooo excited to be going into childrenswear design.

January is my month off from school - which allows me to do one of my favorite things: write letters, wrap gifts, mail packages! :)
A couple posts ago I mentioned about possibly making a coaster for my desk - well the "making" part flew out the window because I found the best coaster yet! A cork trivet from Ikea. It is huge yes, but it also serves as a coaster for my cereal bowl in the morning and a little plate of food at lunch and dinner, and of course my midnight snack = ice cream! ahhhhh... life is sweet when there is ice cream in the freezer!

It's a baby girl!!! :) ahahah lol My desk - what a cute little petite thing she is...right now, everything all around is in a total mess, but these pictures will suffice for now. Now I am in need of a coaster for my mug... I think that will be my midnight project tonight!
Yesterday Emily [girl who I babysit] and her best friend Claudia and I went down to Soho to the The Drawing Center - if you live in NYC or are visiting, try and make a pit stop and then cross the street to the "The Drawing Room"- Right now are colored pencil drawings that are so beautiful - some were done over a span of 10+ years. The girls and I decided that Alan Serat [the artist] must have done one stroke a day.... ahh you have to see it to understand what I am talking about. :/ After those two places, we cruised over to Evolution...a very cool store if your into bones, fossils, insects, rocks etc! I picked up a piece of pyrite that is so beautiful it has made me want to start a collection!
